Is my aunt coming down with lung cancer

Is my aunt coming down with lung cancer ?
Details All she does is sit around and smoke, she doesn't leave her house and has no life. She is very over weight and has had this sick deep nasty cough after smoking 2 packs a day. When she coughs " which is every 5- 10 minutes " her face gets red and looks like she is having a seizure. What are some sure fire signs of someone coming down with Lung Cancer from smoking Tobacco ?

no such thing as coming down with lung cancer you either have it or you dont

ya she may cause lung cancer in the future, coughing for 5-10 minutes is a symptoms of cancer.its danger.

You don't just come down with cancer like you do the common cold..........you either have it or you don't. As for your aunt......well she's definitely harming her health with her lifestyle the way it is but whether or not she gets cancer is any ones guess really? We can't predict cos some heavy smokers do & some don't but there are other respiratory diseases such as Emphysema which she could get, not to mention stroke or heart attack. Obviously there is nobody who can talk sense into her & make her help herself hey? I feel sorry for you having to watch & not being able to do anything, so make sure you put yourself first......you are number 1 & you have to look after yourself cos unfortunately it sounds like you are fighting a losing battle with your aunt. Can you live through liver and/or lung cancer

Can you live through liver and/or lung cancer?
I just found out yesterday that my very much loved grandmother has been diagnosed with liver and lung cancer. I know you can live through lung cancer, what about liver cancer?

Anybody can live trhough any type of cancer....especially if it is cought early.

You can if caught early. Not trying to be a downer here, but usually if the cancer is in 2 organs, it has metastasized from one to the other. In this case it was probably lung cancer that went to her liver. This makes it much harder to treat. Hang in there though. Anything can happen

It really depends on the type of cancer (is it an aggressive cancer or has it metastasised from another organ) as to her long term prognosis. It also depends on how early it has been caught too. My heart goes out to you and your Grandmother.

Was your grandmother a smoker? Often in lung cancer cases, it starts off in the lung, and over time it spreads, it usually spreads to the liver first, this is a sign the cancer is at a later stage which cant be good, but anything can happen, she could live another 20 years. I know your really desprete for answers at this point, it hurts... My uncle died of cancer. You will just have to wait and see, a great cancer doctor once said "human beings don't have expiration dates" so hang in there.
