Can children be around chemo patients & success rate of stage 3 lung cancer?
my daughters boyfriends mom has stage 3 lung cancer she is going to start chemo they have 2 children one is 2 years old & the other one is 2 weeks old is it ok for her to be around them after treatments & does anyone know the success rate of recovering from stage 3 lung cancer?

As long as children are made aware of what is going on in an age appropriate way, children can handle just about anything including death and disease. My nieces and nephews handled my sister (their aunt) and mother's (their grandma) cancer treatments and deaths quite well...some were more interested than others but that isn't likely to be a problem with your children because they are so young. They are in no physical danger -- in fact, they will likely be a danger to her (chemo interferes with and sometimes destroys the immune system...and as you know, young children are little germ factories) Lung cancer is deadly. Stage 3 is very serious and she will likely need a lot of care. It depends on a number of things -- including the particular kind of lung cancer she has. You can find the stats online, but full recovery is rather rare.

Chemotherapy can reduce the effectiveness of the immune system so make sure the kids are not sick when visiting the patient. The children will not be harmed in anyway by visiting the patient. There are people who've survived stage three lung cancer. I recommend not paying attention to the statistics because they can be misleading. Adopt a positive attitude and be willing to fight the disease.

how likely are you to get lung cancer compared to a non smoker?
if you smoke a pack a day, how much more likely are you o develope cancer then a non smoker?

Lets put it this way, 99% of people with small cell carcinoma of the lung (a type of lung cancer) are smokers. Less than 1% are non-smokers. Other forms of lung cancer have simillar statistics.

How can I cure lung cancer ?
My grandma is 64 years old and very worried. She has lung cancer and wants to find a way to cure it. Do you have an idea ?

I'm hoping this is a joke, a very distasteful one at that. You cannot cure lung cancer, you can only treat it, and she has to see a doctor about that...I really hope you knew that though.

There is usually no cure for lung cancer. Rarely, if it is diagnosed in the earliest stages, it can be removed and the person can live out their natural lifespan. The cancer could come back even with removal and chemotherapy and rad. However, most of the time, it's diagnosed after the disease has symptoms, or when it is in the metastatic (spread to other organs) phase. At this phase, chemotherapy and rad is really more about symptom management, and will not likely significantly extend life. Surgery is not an option, and most patients will die within the year.
