Can you get cancer from one cigarette if you're prone to lung cancer?
My great grandma and grandpa smoked cigarettes and both died of lung cancer from smoking cigarettes.

You could get lung cancer even if you never smoke cigarettes. My mom died of "non-smoker's" lung cancer. She never smoked in her life. Smoking GREATLY increases your risk of getting cancer, so don't smoke.

You can get other forms of lung cancer and not be a smoker at all. Remember, in this world, nothing has a 0% or 100% of happening, its all in between the two.

You can get lung cancer for other reasons than smoking. But in your case I would not smoke at all due to family history of lung cancer.

Can you live through stage four lung cancer?
my uncle has stage four lung cancer and i just really need to know. I'm worried.

my uncle had the same thing, so i know what your going through. Just stay strong n im sorry to say but my uncle didnt make it, it took a while to finally kill him but it did.Hopefully things turn out diffrent in your case.

My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and survived 6 1/2 years past the diagnosis. I have seen others dx with stage 4 and are still living today with no further treatment. He can survive, and everyone is correct , a positive attitude is a must!

You are right to be worried. You won't like my answer. "Susan" has the right answer with an estimated one chance in 20 that your uncle will survive for five years. It depends to some extent what type of lung cancer this is - small cell or non-small cell lung cancer. I cared for hundreds of these people in my twenty years as a doctor specializing in cancer. Very, very few "lived through" stage 4 - - with metastatic disease. We never want to take away someone's hope entirely, and we do not know the future. This is the time to hope for a miracle. I would gladly be wrong in this case. I'm assuming you wanted a truthful, educated answer.

Anyone knows about the Presumptive Disabled Medi-cal? My dad has terminal lung cancer needs a medicine Tarceva?
I called the Medi-cal Office; they asked me to provide them with my dad's recent medical documents, but my dad hasn't seen doctors for long. Is a doctor's statement saying my dad would only have six-month life enough for applying this medi-cal? Does anyone know if the lung cancer medicine called Tarceva is covered by Medi-cal? Thank you very very much!

Someone in the doctors office, or the billing office at the hospital should have the answers to your questions. And they should be able to help you quickly. Ask the doctor where to go for answers to your billing questions. Also ask the doctor about hospice. If he has said you dad has only six months to live, he is eligible for hospice. They will do most of this for you.
