What are the Odds of a Two Months Old Baby having Lung Cancer

What are the Odds of a Two Months Old Baby having Lung Cancer?
i am asking because my friend said that some random couple stopped her at the store and asked her for a donation because their baby boy of two months had LUNG CANCER. i am not a doctor but that doesn't seem right. i am not saying its not possible. it took my grandpa 55 years of smoking to get Lung Cancer. (he survived!!) so yea....... can a two months old have lung cancer? what are the odds? p.s. i know smoking is not the only way of getting lung cancer

Sadly very good chances, oh my goodness the young ones get every form of it. St Jude's is a great cause to donate to, because they help families, to ensure all cancer babies/children are treated and not turned away.

I doubt it is the type of lung cancer a smoker of 50+ years would get..however it could be a cancerous tumor..I would personally not give any money to a stranger in the grocery store..ask them what hospital the baby is and than make a donation for the child direct to the hospital.

They might be a conartest trying to get free money,be logic and you have to use ur common sence unless the baby's mom was a smoker or he was around some one that smocks (second hand smoking you know GOOD LUCK

it's possible, could be a tumor, or something to do with the way it's body is still forming. bless their little hearts.

Anything is possible. Cancer knows no age. However, in that situation I would not have given money unless they had gotten permission from the store to set up a booth and have a fund raiser.

I would think it was a scam - there are many other lung diseases or conditions the baby could have I have never heard of a child with lung cancer

There is a very rare type of lung cancer that babies and young children (under age four) can get called “pleuropulmonary blastoma” or “PPB”. There are different types of lung cancer and only one of them is associated with smoking. PPB Registry http://www.ppbregistry.org/ Cancer.net: Pleuropulmonary Blastoma - Childhood http://www.cancer.net/patient/Cancer+Types/Pleuropulmonary+Blastoma+-+Childhood But you should always investigate any handout before donating.
