I'm 16, I've smoked about 8 months, only about 1 or 2 cigarettes a day. I recently quit for good, but lately I've been having a dry cough and my chest will hurt a little sometimes. Idk if I am being over dramatic but is this signs of lung cancer?

Dry cough could be from the smoke your sucking in and the reason it may hurt is because you may strain the muscles while you cough. Other then that if it's been recent it could be a side effect of post nasal drip. Got to the doctor because honestly anything is possible. Take your symptoms as a hint.. STOP SMOKING.

These are symptoms of allergies or bronchitis, or sometimes pneumonia. Its not impossible to get lung cancer at your age, but it is nearly impossible for cancer to be caused by 8 months of smoking and within this time frame also advance to the point where symptoms would be noticeable.

Its highly doubtful that you have cancer, but you might have done damage to your lungs. Go see a specialist

so thats about 300 to 480 cigarettes right? I'm sure its possible for you to have long cancer at age 16 but I kinda doubt that you do. they say that every cigarette you smoke reduces you life by 1 minute(which I doubt is true but whatever), but if that is true than you should have plenty of life left

thats a lot for a 16 year old. idk wow... go see a doc???

It would be very rare, but not impossible. And smoking likely wouldn't have caused it. In the smoker it usually takes years of repeated insults to the lungs to cause cancer. More likely is that you have an induced asthma, or allergy to something in your environment.

Anything can happen, son. First, rule out muscle strain, pneumonia and bronchitis. Maybe induced asthma from the smoke. When you rule those out, then get tested for lung cancer. Young children get lung cancer TOO.

No. It takes many years to get lung cancer from smoking and at 16, the chance that you picked it up from something else -- radon, second-hand smoke, etc. -- is miniscule.
