I heard that radon is the leading cause of lung cancer from a friend....I always thought that second hand smoking was the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers....please share what you know!

I don't believe it is. I think that would be hard to prove since radon is a weird gas anyways. Try looking up the American Cancer Association website. They have oodles of data and facts you might find helpful because Im no expert.

There are reportably more lung cancer cases linked to radon as a 'cause' than second hand smoke. This comes from miners and other people who work in ground that is affected by radon gasses. So . . yes . . and no . . because no one really knows if these workers are 'non-smokers' or not . . they may do both. Keep in mind that while smoking, second hand smoke, and radon increase the risk of lung cancer . . no one knows why one person will get cancer while someone else will not . . while one person exposed to radon may never even develop lung cancer while someone who is never exposed to radon, never smokes, and is not exposed to second hand smoke may get lung cancer. Cancer is not that black and white . . and for every rule there are tons of exceptions. So even if you never smoke, are never exposed to second hand smoke, and have no contact with radon . . you could still develop lung cancer.

YES radon is the leading cause of lung cancer and by far outweighs even the exaggerated claims that second hand smoke is causing cancer. Just go to your local EPA website at www.epa.gov and search for radon, the EPA openly claims radon causes more cancer by far in non-smokers than does all the indoor "second hand smoke" inhaled by non-smokers, neither one of them carries a super high risk though, don't let their scare tactics freak you out, the're just trying to get donations.
