My mother has been smoking for about 17 years. About a year ago, she said she stopped. She did for about a month, and then started again. Now even though I don't see her, I can definitely tell she smokes at least twice a day. I'm very worried for her health. So what are her chances of getting cancer? Btw, she's 46. Thanks.

1 in 7 lifelong smokers on average gets lung/thorat cancer. However, 17 years is not considered lifelong. I believe that implies 30 years or more based on the studies that I have seen. So in your moms cases, the odds probably are not that high.

look into your mother's life pattern, that she is a heavy smokers, there is the possibility of lung cancer. We recommend that you advise your mother to reduce smoking. Begin to live healthy, multiply eat vegetables and fruit, and drink a minimum of one liter of water in one day. If you believe in herbal remedies, can try taking the herbs to clean your mother's lungs. prevention is better than later.

Not very high, most smokers don't get lung cancer. And most deaths from smoking are due to other causes, particularly heart attacks. She should definitely stop because she's reaching the age at which it can kill you.
