Lung cancer is slow growing and it could take 8 to 10 years for a tumor to be big enough to be detectable. Hope this helps.
2 :
Proberly any where up to 12 months. Some people who developed lung cancer never somked in there lives. It a 85% chance that a smoker will develope lung cancer. Its a 10% chance that a non smoker will develope lung cancer. Its more than likey that a non smokers lung cancer was caused by either passive smokeing or it traveled to the lungs from another place in the body. This would make the lung cancer the secondary cancer site.

How long do you live when you have lung cancer

How long do you live when you have lung cancer?
My brother is 46 years old and he started smoking when he was 10 years old. This last week he fainted and fell down a flight of stairs and is now in a coma in which he has been for a few days now. The doctor says he has had cancer for a while now. I was wondering what the chances are that he will pull out of this...?

Lung cancer is not always deadly. My grandpa started smoking about that same time, and he had lung cancer in one lung, so they removed the lung that had the cancer in it, and he was fine. He probably lived about 10 years after that. If your brother has lung cancer in one lung, there is hope. I'm not saying removing the lung will cure him, but I know it can be done. My grandpa was never in a coma though, so like I said, I'm not 100% that it will help your brother. If he has lung cancer in both lungs, then there isn't much hope.
2 :
Depends on what stage it is and how long he has had it. talk with his doctor.

It depends on which country you live in . . but if you are referring to the US than you can check the statistical facts for all these types of cancers: US Cancer Statistics for 2007 http://www.cancer.org/docroot/stt/stt_0.asp US Cancer Statistics from NCI http://www.cancer.gov/statistics/ SEER cancer statistics http://seer.cancer.gov/statistics/ CANCERMondial - world statistics for cancer http://www-dep.iarc.fr/

I can only hope the sites below can give you some answers to help. My wife had bone cancer but it ended up in her lungs as well as too many other places. The lungs seem to be the first place cancers also end up when cancer is other parts of your body. If you think you may have any type of cancer, get to a specialist
2 :
Well by mom had breast cancer that ended up in her lungs. If yo die of lung cancer it is a slow painly death as you slowly suficate because your lungs stop working she never had to face that it got her heart before it spead to much more in her lungs.

Would u get lung cancer or any other bad thing if u quit smoking

Would u get lung cancer or any other bad thing if u quit smoking?
Would you get lung cancer or anything else bad like cancer or something and die if you quit smoking because my mom is trying to quit and once she quits smoking I don't want her to die... so please answer my question, thanks.

Not to worry. The getting sick part would be a result of her smoking over the time she has, not from quitting. The sooner she quits, the better!!! Quitting smoking is the absolute best thing she can do. Be proud of her and encourage her during this hard time.
2 :
i dont want to worry you but when you quit smoking ( assuming your mom has been smoking for several yers) the chemicals that comes from smoking doesnt dissapear immediatly after you quite, it takes aehile. You have to havea healthy diet, exercise become healthy. It takes years for the harm that has gone to your lungs to slowly decrease. I'm not sure but i dont thinkt hat it will ever fully go away.
3 :
Smoking is not the only thing that causes lung cancer. Sorry to say that there are many ways to get hurt and diseased in this world. Unfortunately most of them are by accident and genetics. Smoking won't necessarily give you cancer but it will dramatically increase your risk. Quitting always helps but again, sorry there are no guarantees in life. We just do the best we can do.
4 :
No you can't get cancer from quitting smoking. You canget itfrom smoking. So let her quit. Do your best. I got my grandpa to quit. Persistence pays off!!! Good luck!! Well, yes you can but, a lot of people get cancer that's not smoking. www.americancancersociety.org there is a lot of info there. Don't wory. Pray, pray, pray. It helps I will pray for you!!!><> I hope your mom quits. Also, 20 years after you quit smoking, it's like you never started!! It says that on the website posted above!! Good luck!!! Even ifyou just live an extra minute before you die, then, it still counts. Good luck God bless you, Tabby
5 :
Every day after you quit is a good day. The lungs get better and better.
6 :
Whether or not she will get cancer will depend on how her body is coping with her current level of smoking. If she stops right now, her chances of getting cancer will be greatly reduced. Not stopping will increase her chances. Your mother could suffer some ill effects from her body detoxifying itself once she does. That should not last for more than a few weeks and she will gradually feel the benefits of being a NON smoker.

if she keeps on smoking she will die soon ! if she wants to live longer, she should quit smoking.
2 :
Your mom's chances of NOT getting cancer should improve if she does stop smoking. It's not good for her or anyone else to smoke....it's not healthy!!! Hope your mom's able to quit!! Good luck!
3 :
No you can't Its better for your body and lungs to quit.
4 :
she can still get by around people who smoke. but that reduces her chances greatly from getting lung cancer.
5 :
yea Emphasema.., but uhh u proboubly might have iT,,
