No, I don't know where you got that from, but caffeine only affects a stomach ulcers and makes you hyper, I'd like to know where you heard that crap,. (sorry) It just baffles me how myths or rumors start. No, they don't drink coffee purposely. Why would they even do that?

How come some smokers never get lung cancer

How come some smokers never get lung cancer?
I know smoking causes lung cancer but I see people that smoke like 50 years.

2 :
yes they do. sumppl r lucky. sum arent.
3 :
They don't get lung cancer when they die of something else, first.
4 :
They don';t have the cancer gene, weird huh?
5 :
Like with most risks in life, lung cancer is a possible consequence of smoking but not everyone develops it. Think of it like this: when you get in a car you run the risk of getting into an accident, but everyone who gets into a car doesn't get into an accident.
6 :
Because the anti smoking lobby made all that up. Smoking is great for releiving stress and a smoke after good sex is also mandatory. So therefore with that all said for the non- smokers I guess they are not getting good sex..
7 :
smoking is not bad for you. it can also protect from some stds
8 :
The same reason some people who never smoke do get lung cancer. Genetics and luck.
9 :
my own personal theory that no one wants to hear - smoking creates a tar coating on the lungs. It's kind of like paving your driveway with asphalt - you cover it up so nothing gets through to the underside. That's how I feel about smoking. I think it covers your lungs so cancer, etc. can't get through. I know everyone in the medical community and people who know people who've died of lung cancer will disagree, but that is what I think.
10 :
You actually don't know smoking causes lung cancer. The correlation between smoking & lung cancer has only been proven as a weak one. Many other variables contribute to this disease, such as predisposition to cancer, family history. Mesothilioma from asbestos exposure for instance almost exclusively found in smokers.
11 :
dont be nervous , eat carrot , onion
12 :
My dad has been smoking since he was 16, now he's 51, he is still fine and the tests show that there is nothing wrong with his lungs. He smokes 12 rothmans a day atleast.

what is this lump/growth called?and is this growth very common in lung cancer patients

what is this lump/growth called?and is this growth very common in lung cancer patients?
my husband developed a rapidly growing lump/growth on his upper back, that resembled a giant pimple and grew to the size of an orange.shortly after having surgery to remove a lobe from one lung .due to lung cancer.

This is not common for a lung cancer patient. This sounds more like an abscess. Is it painful, tender, inflamed? Too much missing information here. His doctor should be telling you and your husband what this is. We can't see the lesion or examine this area of his back. If this grew to "orange size" in a week or two, it is not likely to be malignant.

Is vomiting while having lung cancer normal

Is vomiting while having lung cancer normal?
My grandpa currently has lung cancer and I found out today that when he eats he vomits everything out. Is it normal to vomit food? Please need answers ASAP, thanks.

1 :
It's normal if he is undergoing chemo or radiation therapy. If he's not currently undergoing therapy then its not normal, he needs to be seen by a doctor.
2 :
If he's having chemo, nausea and vomiting are very common, but there are a lot of anti-nausea medicines his oncologist could be giving him. Have him check to see what they can do for him (they give me anti-nausea medicine at the time of chemo, and they can also provide pills for afterward). He may also lose his hair, and he will definitely be tired a lot. There are many strange symptoms he may have (I have colon cancer, and my hands tingle like I have frostbite when they get a little cold), so don't be surprised if strange problems crop up.
3 :
its normal if he takes Chemo

GO TO A FAKIN DOCTOR. SERIOUSLY. DONT ASK US HOLLYYYY
2 :
Yes anyone is capable of having cancer, doesnt matter what type it is...or age at that matter, not to scare you..but if you are having problems, its best to see a Dr
3 :
Not likely but there are many other things you could be suffering from. Please go see a doctor.
4 :
???? No. Of course not. Do you smoke at all? If you do, now would be a good time to quit.
5 :
possible but extremely unlikely. go to the doc and get a check up.
6 :
The symptoms you are having could be due to a number of different things. The most important thing for you to do is to visit your doctor. Here is a link to some useful information about lung cancer: http://www.nowwhat.org.au/info/factsheets/lung-cancer I hope you've found my post helpful.
7 :
hmm you have too many vague symptoms, but you are not coughing..see your doctor asap.
8 :
18 year-olds do not get lung cancer nor do you have symptoms of it. If your symptoms persist see a doctor.
9 :
No, 18 year olds don't get lung cancer. Lung cancer is rarely diagnosed in anyone younger than 40. 85% of cases occur in people over 60, and incidence peaks in people aged 75-84. What you describe are not symptoms of lung cancer.

Your mom died of lung cancer and your dad STILL smokes? How sad......ask a doctor....and Best Wishes......
2 :
This question kind of made me feel sad because you are taking this serious as you should and your father still continues with the habit..try talking to your dad and tell him your feelings about smoking.. I think there is a high chance for you to get it :( ask him to not smoke around you for now and then help him quit with those patches.
3 :
Tell your father to stop smoking in the house and smoke outside! Inhaling cigarette smokes is far more dangerous than actually smoking one! You can also get an Air Purifying unit put in your room (ask your local electrical goods store people about this). Ask your dad for money since he's the one causing this problem.
4 :
you can't avoid it and cigarette smoking ........
5 :
try to avoid him whenever he smokes, maybe go outside when he smokes (or inside if he does it outside). Your chances aren't all that high but still you could get lung cancer from secondhand smoke.

How can you tell you have lung cancer

How can you tell you have lung cancer?
Ok i have asthma and how can you tell if you have lung cancer? im 14 and lost weight i wiegh like 96 pounds

1 :
you will probaly know when you are not breathing properly
2 :
Well chances are at your young age it is not. Do not worry yourself. See your doctor he will be delighted to reassure you.
3 :
Sometimes there are no symptoms, and the best way is to ask a doctor to do an X ray. Sometimes there will be a bad cough, back pain, and you will look generally sick. You sound like a hypochondriac, like me Your only 14, and have asthma, your probably OK, and I wouldn't worry. Lung cancer is very rare in people your age, asthma or not. There are MANY more common things that have those exact symptoms as well and are not lung cancer
4 :
yeah ususally happens when you smoke or is living in China like i used to. Symptoms are swallen lung bronchi so you would have trouble breathing. This develops slowly so you might not be able to notice it until its too late. 96 pounds is alot of weight, maybe something else like type 1 diabetes? get checked out
