Can dog hair cause lung cancer or any other kind of cancer

Can dog hair cause lung cancer or any other kind of cancer?
Hey does anyone know if dog hair can cause lung cancer or any other kind of sickeness and if yes is their any proof? Some one told me a cancer doctor said so but I don't beleive that. If it were true many Americans wouldn't live or even sleep with their dogs.

No. Smoking /alcohol abuse is the leading cause of cancer.

If anything, dog dander not hair would cause allergic reactions. Sometimes they can be very severe to those who are very sensitive to dog hair. They will cough and cough, eyes will cry and swell, runny nose. Those are people with very sensitive allergies and the best treatment is to take the dog away. Right away. I've never heard of a dog causing lung cancer or any cancer. Dogs, in fact can get the same cancers that humans do though. I don't beleive anyone who said that and Oncologist told her that story. I've worked with all kinds of doctors during my 30+ yrs of nursing and never once did I hear of this and no Oncologist ever told me that either. It's a new one on me. Sorry. You're safe. Blessings
3 :
No scientific documented evidence or data exists linking dog hair to lung cancer in human beings.

my mom has to get a Pulmonary Function Test does this mean she have lung cancer

my mom has to get a Pulmonary Function Test does this mean she have lung cancer?
My mom got a call from the doctor today saying she needs to have a Pulmonary Function Test done. Does this mean she might have lung cancer? i'm really scared and worried. She actually even started the patch on monday to quit smoking to.

No, it means the doctor is worried about the amount of oxygen she is getting. She could have reduced function from smoking, pneumonia, TB, cancer, non-cancerous tumours, and many other things...some scary, some very easily treated. Encourage her to carry on with the patches....stopping smoking will help whatever is wrong.

When a person has lung cancer does are one of the symptoms before death vomiting blood and shaking of the body?
I'm writing a movie script and a character in the movie has lung cancer, before she dies so the symptoms seem real what are some examples of symptoms right before death? Would the person shake because of shock or being desperate to call for help? Thanks

All people are different Some would be very quiet and weak and have their eyes shut and look white and say nothing Others may try to talk and shake and be afraid go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lung_cancer
2 :
Stage four is the final stage of lung cancer and it is the most advanced form of lung cancer. It is in this final stage of lung cancer that the cancer metastasized or invaded other areas of the body. Surgery at this stage is not likely recommended, unless it is for a relief of symptoms. However, massive quantities of chemotherapy and different combination of cancer fighting drugs are recommended to relieve some of the pain from the cancer and to possibly prolong the patient’s life span. Symptoms such as extreme fatigue, dry mouth, shortness of breath, joint pain and often pneumonia are just a few of the symptoms which may be seen in the final stages of lung cancer. When the patient is in the final stages of lung cancer it is best to do everything possible to make the patient as comfortable as possible. You have to be an advocate for the patient, ask for what he/she need, and work closely with the physician to find out what works best to help relieve or lessen symptoms… quality of life is an important marker of success in the final stages of lung cancer.

Yes that's pretty much right.

Hola revolutionary - Part of what you write may be true. If the cancer has spread to invade through the wall of an artery and adjacent air passage (such as the trachea or bronchus), the cancer could have eaten away a hole in the artery wall and the final appearance could be a sudden spurt or large flow of blood coming from the trachea into the mouth and out the lips and nose. Before then, the cancer could have greatly reduced breathing of vital air (oxygen) and the patient become quite pale with grayish color skin changes. The only times I have seen shaking of the body connected is when the lung cancer has spread to a certain area of the brain, but then sudden blood vomiting does not happen at the same moment. Good luck with your script.

What is metastasis and at what stage during the devolopment of lung cancer would it start to occur

What is metastasis and at what stage during the devolopment of lung cancer would it start to occur?
Is metastasis when the cancer spreads from the lungs to other parts of the body maybe? Would it maybe occur when the cancer reaches the aveoli and can pass through the blood stream?

My husband had cancer that metasticized to his brain. This is how it was discovered. You are correct. It is when it spreads.

You got that right! ~

Prognosis depends on the extent of disease at the time of diagnosis. Accurate staging, assessing the extent of local and distant disease, is necessary to determine resectability and overall prognosis. Surgical resection is the only curative hope for patients with lung cancer. The staging is different for small cell and for non-small cell cancers of the lung. Small cell lung cancer Small cell lung cancers are divided into just two stages. This is because small cell lung cancer often spreads outside the lung quite early on. Even if the doctor cannot see any spread of the cancer on your scans, it is likely that some cancer cells will have broken away and travelled through the bloodstream or lymph system. To be safe, small cell lung cancers are usually treated as though they have spread, whether any secondary cancer can be seen or not. The two stages of small cell lung cancers are: Limited disease – the cancer cells can be seen only in one lung, in nearby lymph nodes, or in fluid around the lung (known as a pleural effusion). Extensive disease – it is clear that the cancer has spread outside the lung, within the chest area or to other parts of the body. Non-small cell lung cancer Non-small cell lung cancer is usually divided into four stages. Stage 1 cancer is very localised and has not spread to the lymph nodes. This stage is divided in two: Stage 1A the cancer is no bigger than 3cm in size.Stage 1B the cancer is larger than 3cm, or it is growing into the main airway of the lung (bronchus). The cancer may also have spread into the inner covering of the lung (pleura) or made the lung partially collapse. Stage 2 non-small cell lung cancer is also divided in two: Stage 2A the cancer is small, measuring 3cm or less in size, and nearby lymph nodes are affected.Stage 2B the cancer is larger than 3cm and in the nearby lymph nodes, OR there is no cancer in the lymph nodes, but the tumour has grown into the chest wall, the outer covering of the lung (pleura), the muscle layer below the lungs (diaphragm), the covering of the heart, or it has made the whole lung collapse.Stage 3 is also divided in two: Stage 3A the cancer is of any size and has spread into the lymph nodes in the middle of the chest (mediastinum), but not to the other side of the chest. OR, the cancer has spread into tissue around the lung near to where the cancer started. This can be into the chest wall, the covering of the lung (pleura), the middle of the chest (mediastinum) or other lymph nodes close to the affected lung.Stage 3B the cancer has spread to lymph nodes on either side of the chest or above either collar bone. OR the cancer has spread into another major structure; such as the gullet (oesophagus), the heart, windpipe or a main blood vessel. OR there are two or more tumours in the same lung. OR there is a collection of fluid containing cancer cells around the lung. Stage 4 lung cancer has spread to a distant part of the body, such as the liver or the brain.
4 :
Metastasis is the spread of cancer from the original location. By definition of each stage of cancer, metastatis is criteria for stage 3 and up cancer. Spread to another organ is clearly metastatis.

Do statistics on lung cancer risk reflect the younger ages at which smokers take up the habit

Do statistics on lung cancer risk reflect the younger ages at which smokers take up the habit?
Am thinking that: - lung cancer, from what I've read, looks like any old thing until it's too late - doctors use research to inform their judgement around testing - research suggests that cancer tends to show up in older people Someone who started smoking at 11 will have smoked for 20 years by the time they're 31. Their doctor might not bother testing for cancer because the age profile is lower than the typical threshold (age 50, I think). Thanks Denise, for replying. But if the number of cigarettes smoked is, as many people say, the most important cause of lung cancer, what role does age play? http://journals.lww.com/epidem/Abstract/1993/09000/The_Effect_of_Age_at_Smoking_Initiation_on_Lung.10.aspx http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/91/7/614 http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/members/2002/110p555-558wiencke/wiencke-full.html One of the articles above suggests that early smoking affects development in a special way...

Doctors don’t test for cancer they run tests and the results combined with their training, the patents history and exam help lead them to a diagnosis. 2% of lung cancers occur in patients under 45 years old and smoking has little to nothing to do with it at that age.

what is the dosage of morphine in lung cancer patients

what is the dosage of morphine in lung cancer patients?
What is the oral and IV dosage of morpine in lung cancer patients? Also please include the normal and toxic dose of morphine in oral and IV dosage.

The dose is always changing and getting larger every time the patient request it due to sever pain. They all begin at a low dose, but as the months go on, the dosage gets bigger and bigger. So you really can't state the dosage amount because everyone is different.

Life expectancy of someone with small cell lung cancer

Life expectancy of someone with small cell lung cancer?
Has anyone, or do you know anyone that has beat lung cancer of this type? Thanks for answers. This person has not smoked for 25 yrs, and is male and over 60. They were not given the stage of the cancer by the doctor. I would venture to say it was an early diagnosis from the timetable that they spoke of.

Lung cancer is one of the toughest cancers to beat.
2 :
My aunt died of it, and I've had half a dozen patients with it. Life expectancy can be as short as six weeks or as long as eighteen months.
3 :
I am an oncology nurse and can tell you that it is very possible to beat this. You provide very little information. But if it is caught early enough it can be beat. The first thing would be for surgery to remove the cancerous area, then it will be followed up by treatment of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. That would be to kill off any further cancer cells that might have been missed by the surgery. It can be beat. Check into the American Cancer society for more information. Hope this helps and good luck!
4 :
When you get diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer they give you a stage either it is limited or extensive. If his SCLC has been labeled limited, then he has a better prognosis with treatment. If he has been labeled extensive then the Dr. should have given him a prognosis of possible months he has to live. It is one of the hardest cancers to beat but, depending on treatment & level he has been diagnosed with, he may have a good chance to fight it or it may take him quickly. Here's a good article that is quite informative that may help you understand more about it: http://i.cmpnet.com/cancernetwork/handbook/pdf/07sclc.pdf The best advice I can give is to be there for them ,love them, and support their decisions for whatever treatment path they choose to pursue. Losing control of one's life is frightening. Dr's try & give good estimates on recovery or amount of time someone has to live but, they really can only guess, there are a lot of factors that come into play. I have spoken with many Oncologists that say that they have some patients that do well that had all the odds against them & others that don't do well & should have. Find out more info & then you can learn about the best options for treatment & recovery. Good Luck!

I used to work in a nursing home and give many baths. Not one time did i ever see an expiration date stamped on their feet or hinny. It's up to God. We can eat like God intended according to Levitical Law. Eat food as close to the way God made it. Juicing works very well, also prayer & fasting.
6 :
Women live less than 1 year. Dana Reeves was an exception, and she NEVER smoked. Men a better chance of beating it. Thoughts are with your family.
7 :
Small Cell Lung Cancer is one in which a percentage of folks may have long term survival. It is a cancer that is very responsive to treatment, but many cases tend to recur. If diagnosed early (Limited Stage) chemotherapy and radiation will allow 20% of cases to survive at least 5 years. If diagnosed late (Extensive Stage), 5 year survival is much worse (around 1%).

Is there a link between marijuana use and lung cancer

Is there a link between marijuana use and lung cancer?
The link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer is so clear. Is the same true for marijuana? It seems the way it is smoked (held in the lungs for as long as possible) would make it more carcinogenic that cigarette smoke. Any data on this?

I'm quite sure... It'z still smoke no matter how great the smell!!!
2 :
you can find data supporting either argument - that marijuana doesnt cause lung damage and that marijuana does cause lung damage. its important to see who is publishing the data. if you are reading something from the american medical association, who has performed studies and tests, then i would believe it. if you are reading something published by the marijuana society of america that states that marijuana does NOT cause any lung problems, i would probably question it. personally, i think ANYTHING you inhale can cause lung damage. it is proven that things like second hand smoke, pollution, inhaled chemicals can all cause lung cancer and lung disease. so why not marijuana too? it is a foreign substance to the body that is inhaled directly into the lungs, and i am sure it has some kind of chemical or oil in the plant itself that enters and coats the lungs. but that is my personal opinion - im sure you could find data on this on the web, just be careful of who is publishing the information and what their opinion is because the data they publish may be self serving.
3 :
Marijuana consists of 206 known poisons all of which are carcenogenic. The rest of the poisons in cannibis are still unkown. It does show some medical benefits when used in this way for claucoma/eyesite etc and cancer patients etc but it is still not good for you in general. It will kill you evetually and it screws up your mind. Craig - Naturopath
