Can acquiring HIV anally eliminate lung cancer

Can acquiring HIV anally eliminate lung cancer?
I heard that if you have anal sex with another man, and he gives you HIV/AIDS, all cancer found in the lungs will evaporate. Now, I have gotten desperate with my cancer, so if this is not true. I have HIV and cancer. Help?

that's like trying to cure a headache with a 12 gauge.
2 :
You have been lied to, HIV will not eliminate lung cancer. However, stupidity can be cured with lead poisoning if taken by the speed of sound.
3 :
Are you fucking kidding me? If you're really that ignorant, then you really need to read and do more research. If you're taking both HIV and cancer as a joke, you should be ashamed of yourself. These are real battles people struggle with every day and even eventually lose their lives to. Watch what you say and how you say it.

Is it possible to still survive inoperable lung cancer by any methods at all

Is it possible to still survive inoperable lung cancer by any methods at all?
Instead of my grandmother dying, what can be done? Can they take her lung out? Ooo, doesn't sound good. But are there replacements? Just like we have feeding tubes. She probably would hate that though. Just want her to be alive. How does a doctor decide that lung cancer cannot be operated on? If so, does this mean that all surgeons won't operate on it? She smoked for decades. Already had colon and breast cancer too. She need had or will want chemo.

There are at least two treatments for inoperable lung cancer. These are new treatments and seem to be very effective. Go to the following websites: http://lungcancer.about.com/b/2008/06/23/new-hope-for-inoperable-lung-cancer.htm http://sciencedaily.com/releases/2000/02/000207074209.htm Neither of these treatments involve chemo or radiation. As far as what determines if lung cancer is operable or not - it usually has to do with the patient's general health and what stage the cancer is in. Yes, they can remove a lung and generally the patient can handle it fairly well assuming that their other lung is in good shape. My neighbor had a lung removed because of cancer in 1978 and she's still doing well and she's 84 years old now.

Why some people who smoke never get lung cancer

Why some people who smoke never get lung cancer?
And why some people who never smoked get lung cancer? is lung cancer more common with people with poor quality of life like what life style they have what food they eat or is smooking the main factor. Do fit healthy people get lung cancer

Almost all cases of lung cancer are from smoking, but just because some don't get cancer after smoking, they are still far from healthy. Most long-term smokers have emphysema or bronchitis and even some people in their 30's have irreversible lung damage. There is no way to win health-wise if you smoke. You can be sure that anyone who smokes is not 100% healthy.
2 :
Just like there are people blessed with athletic genes, there are people that are blessed with cancer resistant genes. Just like there are people that seem to eat and eat and never get fat. There are also people that are prone to getting cancer easier that other and they don't even smoke.
3 :
Cancer is a disease that can effect anyone. For example breast cancer is also found in men. Genetic factors play a very large part as to whether you will get any type of cancer. Very similar to alcohol and drug addictions. Some people are more genetically inclined to become addicted than others. After genetics, how you treat your body also effects whether "rouge" cells turn into cancer. In the case of lung cancer, smoking greatly increases the chance of cancer cells forming but not always. My grandmother had lung cancer and she never smoked or lived in a house where someone did smoke.
4 :
We really don't know why people get cancer. The theory is that somehow foreign materials irritate tissue, and from that, one can get cancer, and that is a good fit for lung cancer, but it certainly doesn't explain why other cancers happen, such as pancreatic, liver, brain, ovarian, etc. We have shown that tendency to get cancer is partly inherited. The most famous example is Jimmy Carter's father and sisters, who all got pancreatic cancer, and died from it, while he somehow was spared. There are genetic markers now being identified for different cancers. We can show that certain people who have certain genes will have a dramatically higher risk of cancer. The number of smokers who actually get lung cancer, while very significant, is still not so large as to guarantee that if you smoke, you will get cancer. Some people smoke all their life and never have a problem. Presumably their genes had some protection somehow. Others will get cancer, and there's no reason we can find. They had a high vulnerability.
5 :
I knew a woman who never smoked a cigarette in her life that got lung cancer and passed away. I think cancer hits anyone it wants and settles down in the body wherever is most comfortable for it to grow unnoticed until it's too late to do anything about it. It doesn't matter if a person is rich or poor. Cancer doesn't seem to discriminate. They say it's all the genes.

Anyone know anything about recurrent lung cancer

Anyone know anything about recurrent lung cancer?
My father in law, 74, was just diagnosed with a recurrence of lung cancer, two spots in one lung and one in the other. His original cancer was about 4 years ago, limited to one lobe, surgically removed. He is diabetic, very overweight, high blood pressure, just not the picture of health overall anyway. He will have a PET scan to check for distance metastesis on Wednesday. I am pretty worried about his chances. Anyone know how 'beatable' a recurrence of lung cancer in an older guy, former heavy smoker, in marginally fair overall health is?

IF this is a recurrence of primary lung cancer with three visible masses in the lungs, it would not be considered a curable situation. You will not know until all the tests are in. It also depends what type of lung cancer this is - the histology - which can only be accurately proven with biopsy examination. It does not sound "beatable" as you describe it, but his doctors are the ones to make this prediction and explanation. Best wishes and hopes for the best.

How long does it take to get a CT scan result? (posible lung cancer)

How long does it take to get a CT scan result? (posible lung cancer)?
I have a friend in TX that's getting a CT scan. How long till the doctors will be able to tell if it's lung cancer or not?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
it should take 1-3 days ,at the most a week.
2 :
I am not sure about TX, but it normally takes about a week to get my results back. A CT wil not be able to fully determine if a suspicious shadow is cancer, but it will show where the problem or problems are, then they can do a biopsy to determine if it is indeed cancer or not.
3 :
most hospitals in texas take about a week before you hear anything.
4 :
If it is cancer you will know immediately. Whenever my son had a CT we knew the same day. I asked his doctor about it and she said it actually depends on the radiologist. If he is there than he will read it right away. I am really not sure why for some patients it takes a week, other than I suppose . . priority. We also got to see the CT with my sons doctor . . she would explain what we were looking at. The scans can be burned onto a CD and you can take them to each doctor you visit. They just pop it into a computer and go over the scans with you.

How does it feel having lung cancer

How does it feel having lung cancer?
i have been smoking for about 15 years average of 3 to 5 sticks of cigarettes a day and lately i experience hard coughing and heavy feeling on the back, so i slowly stopped smoking for almost a month now, i still smoke now but i don't completely inhale it to my lungs, only on the mouth and then just blow it out. do you think i am having cancer already?

You can get a lot of things before you get cancer. Emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, pleursy and blood clots. My FIL died of emphysema...smoked until he could hardly breathe. Just get a straw and put it in your mouth and pinch your nose and breathe through that straw and THAT's what it's like....I can imagine LUNG cancer is much worse too as it spreads everywhere to other organs too. It's a pity people never consider this when they start, and I'm a reformed smoker too (quit many years ago!) and I just wished I'd never picked it up at all. The stupidest of habits there is and I will regret it until the day I die for more reasons than one.
2 :
I doubt it, you more likely are developing secondary issues like emphyzema, chronic bronchitis, COPD, etc. Take a look at pics of a cigarette smokers lungs such as yourself http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Cockatiel_face.jpg So you can clearly see how this causes your breathing to be affected even if you don't have cancer. My Grandpa has all of the above except cancer, thank god. He was a smoker for 30 years before the doctor told him he will die if he keeps smoking after his heart attack. Be strong and quit that crap. Its not worth your life.
3 :
You can't cancer from 3-5 a day. Impossible. I smoke 30 a day for 24 years and I feel great.
4 :
i don't but i do know that i like your avatar

What tests are good for detecting lung cancer

What tests are good for detecting lung cancer?
I work in a bar atmosphere, and dont smoke. Im concerened about 2nd hand smoke. Dana Reeves just passed away from lunch cancer, yet she didn't smoke.

Usually symptoms of lung cancer do not appear until the disease is in an advanced stage. But some lung cancers are diagnosed early because they are found as a result of tests for other medical conditions. For example, a diagnosis may be made by imaging tests (such as a chest x-ray or chest CT scan), bronchoscopy (viewing the inside of bronchi through a flexible lighted tube), or sputum cytology (microscopic examination of cells in coughed up phlegm) performed for other reasons in patients with heart disease, pneumonia, or other lung conditions. So far there is not lung cancer screening test that has been shown to prevent people from dying of this disease. The use of chest x-rays and sputum cytology (checking phlegm under the microscope to find cancer cells) has been tested for several years. The studies, which have been recently updated, have concluded that these tests could not find many lung cancers early enough to improve a person’s chance for a cure. For this reason, lung cancer screening is not a routine practice for the general public or even for people at increased risk, such as smokers. Recently, a new x-ray technique called spiral or helical low dose CT scanning has been successful in detecting early lung cancers in smokers and former smokers. But it has not yet been proven if this technique will lower the chances of dying from lung cancer. One major problem with this test is that it finds a lot of abnormalities that turn out not to be cancer. This leads to a lot of unnecessary testing and even surgery. The ACS recommends that, as much as possible, people who were smokers, are current smokers, have been exposed to secondhand smoke, or have worked around materials that increase the risk for lung cancer, be aware of their continuing lung cancer risk.
2 :
Start with physical exam by a doctor, chest x-ray if you are concerned or have had a cough that won't go away. If there is anything worrisome on chest x-ray, you might undergo a bronchoscopy with brushings or a needle biopsy of the area of concern. Some doctors will also get a chest CT. Nothing will actually diagnose cancer other than actual tissue examination (a biopsy of some sort) but your goal should be screening and routine exam and a chest x-ray every 2 years should cover you. If you have respiratory symptoms, you should be seen by a doc right away.
3 :
I've just heard about Dana! I feel so sorry for her... some ppl aren't just meant to be happy. My father smoke, not much, and worked in a smoke full atmosphere. He died at 46. The first diagnosis was by an X-ray, but that was 34 years ago.

Here below are the list of test for Lung Cancer. http://www.lungcanceronline.org/tests/index.html What are the signs and symptoms of lung cancer? Symptoms of lung cancer are varied dependent upon where and how wide-spread the tumor is. A person with lung cancer may have the following kinds of symptoms: No symptoms - In up to 25% of people who get lung cancer, the cancer is first discovered on a routine chest x-ray or CT scan as a solitary small mass sometimes called a coin lesion. These patients with small single masses often report no symptoms of lung cancer at the time it is discovered. Symptoms related to the cancer – The growth of the cancer and invasion of lung tissues and surroundings may interfere with breathing, leading to symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest pain, and coughing up blood (hemoptysis). If the cancer has invaded nerves, for example, it may cause shoulder pain that travels down the outside of the arm (called Pancoast’s Syndrome) or paralysis of the vocal cords leading to hoarseness. Invasion of the esophagus may lead to difficulty swallowing (dysphagia). If a large airway is obstructed, collapse of a portion of the lung may occur and cause infections (abscesses, pneumonia) in the obstructed area. Symptoms related to metastasis – Lung cancer that has spread to the bones may produce excruciating pain at the sites of bone involvement. Cancer that has spread to the brain may cause a number of neurologic symptoms that may include blurred vision, headaches, seizures, or symptoms of stroke such as weakness or loss of sensation in parts of the body. Paraneoplastic symptoms - Lung cancers frequently are accompanied by so-called paraneoplastic syndromes that result from production of hormone-like substances by the tumor cells. Paraneoplastic syndromes occur most commonly with SCLC but may be seen with any tumor type. A common paraneoplastic syndrome associated with SCLC is the production of a hormone called adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) by the cancer cells, leading to oversecretion of the hormone cortisol by the adrenal glands (Cushing’s Syndrome). The most frequent paraneoplastic syndrome seen with NSCLC is the production of a substance similar to parathyroid hormone, resulting in elevated levels of calcium in the bloodstream. Nonspecific symptoms - Non-specific symptoms seen with many cancers including lung cancers include weight loss, weakness, and fatigue. Psychological symptoms such as depression and mood changes are also common. When should one consult a doctor? One should consult a health care provider if they develop the symptoms associated with lung cancer, in particular, if they have: A new persistent cough or worsening of an existing chronic cough Blood in your sputum Persistent bronchitis or repeated respiratory infections Chest pain Unexplained weight loss and/or fatigue Breathing difficulties such as shortness of breath or wheezing http://www.medicinenet.com/lung_cancer/page4.htm
