Lung cancer at the age of 14? Give complete diagnostic report data if you want true advise.
2 :
14 year olds do not get lung cancer. Try again.
3 :
14 years old is pretty young for lung cancer. If it is operable they should operate. And usually they would do chemo.... to try to shrink the tumor etc

Can anyone give me any sites that have specific statistical data on lung cancer cases in India

Can anyone give me any sites that have specific statistical data on lung cancer cases in India?
Statistical data on Lung Cancer cases of both women and men in general (does not have to be by states) in India. Please give me some sites that have very specific data. It can be in percentage, number, of anything else. As long as there is a good reliable site or web page I can rely on to make graphs, its good.

What are the causes for lung cancer

What are the causes for lung cancer?
What causes lung cancer? I need to know what the tobacco smokes does to the cells to cause them to not function well. Like does the smoke change the cell cycle or like stops it or somethin?

Smoking, pollution, asbestos, and genetics.
2 :
I'm no scientist but I believe that the smoke causes tar to build up on the cell lining of the lungs. Carcinogens in the tar eventually ooze into the cell tissue, making them "wig out". Some turn cancerous and eventually develop into cancer.
3 :
smoking puts you at risk if it is in your genetics
4 :
ok first of all tobacco smoke KILLS the cells. people that are constant smokers also get a black tarry substance in their lungs and that leads to lung cancer.
5 :
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/lung This web site has a lot of good information on it
6 :
It slows it, yes. It mainly just cuts of the oxygen. Slowly less and less O2 can make it through and cells start to die. You also have to remeber cancer is a mysterious thing. We known disrruptions in the cell's chemistry mess up the dna or force the cell through a second protophase, but their so many variable in the chemistry of a cells you have to look at statistics for info. Like Colon cancer is twice as common in Japan, but breast cancer is twice les common there. No one knows quite why, but it has something to do with our enviroments.
7 :
smoking; asbestos; pollution; and chemical inhalation. in regard to cell desruction--smoke deprives lungs of oxygen and the cells die. lung tissue then degenerates and then the lung cannot function. now you have a host of variable problems. if you really need specific info contact american lung association for their literature on this subject. they can provide all you need.
8 :
Smoking being a carcinogen, produces an above normal amount of white blood cells, outnumbering the balance of the correct amount of the red cells. When the white takes over, an infection sets in which can lead to a serious condition. Not only the lungs get affected, but the entire body does. If there aren't the adequate healthy red blood cells in the body, sickness is imminent.
9 :
breast cancer. It will often go to the lungs, bones, liver, and brain and still be breast cancer. I just went today for a pet scan to see if that is my present problem. Say a prayer for me. O.K? As a child, my house was filled with second hand smoke and that's a cause, too. Our white kitchen cabinets turned yellow from all the smoke. And I think smoking is the biggest cause.
10 :
Lung cancer is the rapid growth of abnormal cells in the lung. It can start anywhere in the lungs and affect any part of the respiratory system. Smoking is the greatest risk factor for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women. Fewer than half of the people who develop lung cancer live 1 more year. And only 15% of people who develop lung cancer live for 5 more years. Most lung cancer is caused by smoking. Harmful substances in tobacco smoke damage the lung cells. Secondhand smoke is also a risk factor for lung cancer. Besides smoking, exposure to harmful substances such as arsenic, asbestos, radioactive dust, or radon can increase the risk for lung cancer. If you have more than one of these risk factors—for example, you are a smoker and you are also exposed to asbestos—you greatly increase your risk of developing lung cancer. Radiation exposure from work, medical, or environmental sources may also increase your risk for lung cancer. There are two main types of lung cancer: small cell lung cancer and non–small cell lung cancer. Each looks different under a microscope and grows, spreads, and is treated differently. Non–small cell lung cancer is more common than small cell lung cancer. More than 80% of all lung cancers are non–small cell cancer. It generally grows and spreads more slowly than small cell lung cancer. About 20% of lung cancers are small cell. This type of cancer grows very rapidly and in more than 80% of people has already spread to other organs in the body by the time it is diagnosed. Small cell lung cancer is more strongly related to smoking than non–small cell cancer.

Here is some biased and incomplete research: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=1571278&dopt=Abstract http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/abstract/0401422101v1 http://www.upmccancercenters.com/news/upci_news/2004/093004_cigarette_smoke.html The body is quite capable of repairing cell damage. Why do some people get cancer while others exposed to the same carcinogen, even at higher doses, never have cancer? "After twenty years of research and therapy with over 31,000 patients, Dr. Hamer finally established firmly, logically and empirically how biological conflict-shock results in a cold cancerous or necrotic phase and how, if the conflict is resolved, the cancerous or necrotic process is reversed to repair the damage and return the individual to health." - http://www.newmedicine.ca/overview.php

Can an ultra sound detect Lung Cancer? Or would a CAT scan or other tests be needed to make sure

Can an ultra sound detect Lung Cancer? Or would a CAT scan or other tests be needed to make sure?
Is it possible that a person could have lung cancer for a few months or more, and it NOT show up on an Ultra Sound?
Medicine - 3 Answers

1 :
The diagnosis is typically made by chest x-ray or CT scan and confirmed by biopsy.
2 :
ultrasound, cat scan, x-rays, and mri are just tests that visualize the insides of your bodies. Once the doctors see some malignancies from the results of these tests, they usually request for further tests depending on the site where the malignancies were located. in your case, they would usually request for an endoscopy, specifically bronchoscopy. This test can provide the doctors a better view of your lungs and at the same time they can also perform a biopsy. The biopsy will confirm if it is a malignant or benign tumor. As for your second question, it is possible to have lung cancer and not show up in the ultrasound. It depends on the rate of growth of the tumor and the current size of the tumor when the test was performed.
3 :
Ultrasounds are not really used for lung diseases since they do not have the ability to image the organ very well. Usually the cancer will first be seen as a spot on an x-ray, at which point a CT would then be done to evaluate the lungs. MRI's can occasionally be used also. Once the spot is seen on a CT, the doctor will then decide if he wants to do a bronchoscopy or an open biopsy. The bronchoscopy is basically a camera slipped down your throat and into your lungs to do two things. One, they can directly visualize the cancer if it inside the airway. Two, the doctor can biopsy the area if it is visible and shoot small amount of water in and suck it back up to check that for cancer cells. If that cannot be done, the surgeon might have ot do an open biopsy, which is opening the chest to get a part of the tumor. Usually this is done with the intent of removing the cancer immediately if a quick check determines it is cancer and it is a solitary lesion. Reasons to do this, are many but basically all boil down to location. For some reason the cancer is not able to be reached by the camera.

Is Anthropogenic Global Warming really as certain as lung cancer for a life-long smoker

Is Anthropogenic Global Warming really as certain as lung cancer for a life-long smoker?
House Democrats said Thursday that denying humans were causing climate change is like denying smoking causes lung cancer. Since the World Health Organization says 92% of life-long smokers will not get lung cancer, does that mean that there is a 92% chance that global warming is not human caused?

Pure propaganda.

The ability of a liberal to talk himself into a corner, and come out looking like an idiot, never ceases to amaze me. And these are supposed to be the academics of this country. Today's academia is acting more like academia nuts. Good catch!
3 :
Yes that's exactly what it means...oh wait! I mean, no it means global warming is real and...you...just YOU'RE nothing but a Global warming denier!!! Yeah, that's what you are, I bet you denied the holocaust too didn't you!! You liked slavery! You're a hateful racist, aren't you!! This guy's a racist, ignore what he says! (typical liberal)
4 :
It's time for conservatives to pull their heads out of the sand. There is money to be made in products that don't destroy the environment as well as those that do. And, there will be a longer timeline of profitability.
5 :
Man-caused climate change is as real as the $5 billion the U.S. will be forced to hand over each and every year to less developed countries as a bribe and to bring our economy and living standards down to their levels.

what dog would be good for my grandma who is in the last stages of lung cancer

what dog would be good for my grandma who is in the last stages of lung cancer?
My grandma's dog , a Pekingese, died yesterday. She has lung Cancer and we are wanting to get her a small non hyper dog. What would be the best?

That's so terrible. She's suffering herself and now has to deal with the loss of her little best friend. That's so sad. Are you sure she wants another dog so soon? Have you asked her? I'm only asking because I know when I lost my dog, I didn't want another dog. I know her time is limited but still, remember, no dog can replace the one she lost. She will want to hang on to those memories of her dog. So unless you've asked her how she feels about another dog, I'd say, don't get one as a surprise. I know you only mean well and I applaud your sensitivity, but wait and ask. One more note, If you're grandma is dying, you have to consider who will take this dog once she's gone. You just can't get her another dog and not consider all aspects of it. God bless, I pray your grandma is comfortable.
2 :
Go to near by vet offices and look at their bulletin board. Every vet office, that i know of, has a bulletin board of animals that need to be re-homed. Find her an older dog that is already calmed down due to age. Those types of dogs are hardest to re-home, yet perfect for her. It's a win, win for all. Plus, the ones on vet office bulletin boards tend to be dogs that were already patients, as in, well taken care of, but just need a new home for various reasons. So they are already trained, housebroken, and mellow.
3 :
None. if your gran is in the last stages of lung cancer then no dog at all. I am sorry for the loss of your dog and that your grandma is sick. Best wishes.
4 :
i think first this is a small dog and very sweet
