Chest xray is pretty good, CT scan of the thorax is better.
2 :
go for the chest xray first. thats the primary one.
3 :
Sadly, lung cancer rarely produces symptoms until it is in it's fourth (metastatic) stage. If you believe you may have lung cancer, please go to your doctor and get a chest xray done as soon as possible- because lung cancer does have such a low five year survival rate, it is very important to get diagnosed or rule it out asap.

1st of all, google it, 2nd, u cant get rid of cancer generally! especially advanced lung cancer. http://www.seattlecca.org/diseases/lung-cancer-facts.cfm; follow this link n read about it
2 :
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ned=&q=advanced+lung+cancer&btnG=Search+News Here, read these news articles to see what's going on in the fight against lung cancer.
3 :
It was discovered many years ago that exposing cancer to 8.5 PH will kill the cancer within hours, and cancer can not grow above 7.9 PH level. Yet a cancerous body is normally tested as acidic, so drinking soda's and other acidic foods can create an acidic enviroment that can host cancer. The cancer will make it's host even more acidic once it starts to reproduce in the host body. Do a google search for "Killing cancer with high PH therapy", and see what you find. I have a friend who has refused chemo - he is 85, and knows what chemo did to his wife 40 years ago. He is being treated with 9.5 PH water, and is walking again - without a cane. Good luck.

Yea, if your worried about her you should.
2 :
Drag her ass to the clinic...Tell her about ur friend and tell her that u care and everything u just mentioned....
3 :
tell her gently. make up that you saw an article that people ages 40 & up that smoke(d) need to get tested for lung cancer. ask her if you thinks she needs to go. if she says yes no problem. if she says no, tell her as her daughter you want her to live to the longest possible. tell her how you feel she should defiantly get tested. if she says no, go to your room and cry. she'll call you down and beg her. tell her how much she means to you.
4 :
You can tell your mom that you are worried about her. But, she is free, and over 21 and she will do with her life exactly what she wants, not what you might want. So, tell her you are worried, but don't expect her to change for you.
5 :
Hi. If you're worried about her, I'd definitely bring it up, but don't try to tell her what to do. Instead, just talk about your friend's grandpa and that you're concerned. However, if it makes you feel any better, the causes of lung cancer aren't as clearly understood as some people think. I've known 4 people who had it during my life, and 3 were non-smokers. Also, as I'm sure you know, the vast majority of smokers do not get lung cancer. It's a terrible habit - I'd never say otherwise! But there's so much stuff floating around out there implying that every smoker will ultimately get lung cancer or emphysema, and that is simply not true. Not even close.

Is radon the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers

Is radon the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers?
I heard that radon is the leading cause of lung cancer from a friend....I always thought that second hand smoking was the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers....please share what you know!

1 :
No, second hand smoke is
2 :
I had heard second-hand smoke was a bigger threat than radon
3 :
I don't believe it is. I think that would be hard to prove since radon is a weird gas anyways. Try looking up the American Cancer Association website. They have oodles of data and facts you might find helpful because Im no expert.
4 :
There are reportably more lung cancer cases linked to radon as a 'cause' than second hand smoke. This comes from miners and other people who work in ground that is affected by radon gasses. So . . yes . . and no . . because no one really knows if these workers are 'non-smokers' or not . . they may do both. Keep in mind that while smoking, second hand smoke, and radon increase the risk of lung cancer . . no one knows why one person will get cancer while someone else will not . . while one person exposed to radon may never even develop lung cancer while someone who is never exposed to radon, never smokes, and is not exposed to second hand smoke may get lung cancer. Cancer is not that black and white . . and for every rule there are tons of exceptions. So even if you never smoke, are never exposed to second hand smoke, and have no contact with radon . . you could still develop lung cancer.
5 :
YES radon is the leading cause of lung cancer and by far outweighs even the exaggerated claims that second hand smoke is causing cancer. Just go to your local EPA website at www.epa.gov and search for radon, the EPA openly claims radon causes more cancer by far in non-smokers than does all the indoor "second hand smoke" inhaled by non-smokers, neither one of them carries a super high risk though, don't let their scare tactics freak you out, the're just trying to get donations.

how can dettect when you have lung cancer

how can dettect when you have lung cancer ?
you could detect lung cancer by just looking at some one smoke for a very long time or maybe just maybe by the look on their faces if the look exhausted or other faces that look weird to you you could right away tell if they have lung cancer .

Try feeling around for any abnormal lumps in or around the lung area. You should really perform a monthly lung checkup, and see a doctor if you feel anything new.
2 :
when you smoke like a redneck
3 :
There is not doubt that smoking is one of the worst habits on the planet if not the worst. There are many numbers and other alternatives that you could try to stop. On my website I have a blog that is talking about what a lot of countries are starting to do to try to cut down on the level of smokers http://shopdesignerclothing.com/Blog.html

My 70 year old mother is recovering from lung cancer, but she seems so to have given up. How do I help her

My 70 year old mother is recovering from lung cancer, but she seems so to have given up. How do I help her?
She has always played the "victim" role. She will not let go of "cancer world". She never calls me or my sisters, we always have to call her. It is almost as if she enjoys being sick and wants everyone to take care of her. My dad has been gone for 7 years. My three other sisters live oout of state. I feel so all alone.

I'm not sure, but you could try taking her out to somewhere she loves now/ loved when she was younger, getting her to remmember better times and realize that she still can have fun!
2 :
Sorry to hear about your mother, I know what you are going through, My mother in law is the same way. She just wants some one around for she is lonely and don't have any one to talk with.Remember once she is gone there is nothing we can do, Just do as much as you can and thank the good Lord you still have her for a while, yet, I told my mother in law one day that if she really feels she is ready to died, go ahead every thing will be OK and life will go on. This seemed to make her stop and think about what she was saying and now only calls cause she wants to talk. Good luck

Is 16 to young to have lung cancer

Is 16 to young to have lung cancer?
I'm 16, I've smoked about 8 months, only about 1 or 2 cigarettes a day. I recently quit for good, but lately I've been having a dry cough and my chest will hurt a little sometimes. Idk if I am being over dramatic but is this signs of lung cancer?
Cancer - 8 Answers

Dry cough could be from the smoke your sucking in and the reason it may hurt is because you may strain the muscles while you cough. Other then that if it's been recent it could be a side effect of post nasal drip. Got to the doctor because honestly anything is possible. Take your symptoms as a hint.. STOP SMOKING.
2 :
These are symptoms of allergies or bronchitis, or sometimes pneumonia. Its not impossible to get lung cancer at your age, but it is nearly impossible for cancer to be caused by 8 months of smoking and within this time frame also advance to the point where symptoms would be noticeable.
3 :
Its highly doubtful that you have cancer, but you might have done damage to your lungs. Go see a specialist
4 :
so thats about 300 to 480 cigarettes right? I'm sure its possible for you to have long cancer at age 16 but I kinda doubt that you do. they say that every cigarette you smoke reduces you life by 1 minute(which I doubt is true but whatever), but if that is true than you should have plenty of life left
5 :
thats a lot for a 16 year old. idk wow... go see a doc???
6 :
It would be very rare, but not impossible. And smoking likely wouldn't have caused it. In the smoker it usually takes years of repeated insults to the lungs to cause cancer. More likely is that you have an induced asthma, or allergy to something in your environment.
7 :
Anything can happen, son. First, rule out muscle strain, pneumonia and bronchitis. Maybe induced asthma from the smoke. When you rule those out, then get tested for lung cancer. Young children get lung cancer TOO.
8 :
No. It takes many years to get lung cancer from smoking and at 16, the chance that you picked it up from something else -- radon, second-hand smoke, etc. -- is miniscule.
