only if his whole family smokes and he has been around since he was a infant 24/7 i dought it

I don't think he would at 17 and after 4 years of smoking but if he doesn't stop he could be on his way to getting cancer someday :(

It sure seems mighty unlikely. Maybe he can see the future.

if u belive him.... u should belive me...."I LOVE U"
5 :
Highly unlikely.

Of course it's possible. The fact that a cancer is rare for a certain group doesn't mean that there's no chance of someone in that group getting it. Apparently there are people who lie about having cancer for some reason, so just because it's possible for him to have it now doesn't mean he does.

Not by smoking but there is other types of lung cancer non smokers can get but I think he is lying - ignore him for a while or tell him you are busy nd will get back to him in a few weeks and see what happens. If he does have lung cancer he will be in hospital most of the time and not on msn?

Very, very unlikely. To find out if he is lying just ask about the cancer staging, lymph involvement, treatment plan, and other specifics. If he stutters a meaningless response then you know he is a liar.

Nah, he's lying or confused. You can't get it from smoking in that time -- it takes many years of heavy smoking -- and it's highly unlikely that he would have it at that age from anything else (radon, asbestos, etc.). He may be suffering from hypochondria and convincing himself that he has something without an actual diagnosis. I suggest you ask him if he's been to a doctor, and if not, encourage him to go and get a checkup to set his mind at ease.

evangeline - Your friend does NOT have a lung cancer that has anything to do with only 4 years of smoking at his present age of 17. There are other cancers in the chest, such as Hodgkin's lymphoma, which occur in the chest, but technically they are in the area of the center of the chest, between the two lungs, known as the mediastinum.
