Can you get lung cancer from fiberglass insulation

Can you get lung cancer from fiberglass insulation?
You can get lung cancer from asbestos because it puts fiber in the lungs and the body doesn't know how to expel it. Wouldn't the same logic be used for fiberglass insulation. When you install fiberglass into walls these tiny fibers break off and get into the air. If you breath in these fibers then the body can't expel them. Glass does not break down and then it remains in your lungs forever.

Not sure about lung cancer but it can do very serious damage to them so you should always have a face mask on they are very cheap and life savers.

No. You can have other problems, but the shape of the microscopic particles of asbestos causes the body to capture and encapsulate them and then be constantly irritated - that is what makes it dangerous. Glass fiber is smooth and bigger and the body can deal with it. There is a lung disease associated with glass called silicosis but you get that from sanding glass (or fiberglass) and breathing the dust (and other dust sources as well) That is not to say is not irritating as all get out and WHILE INSTALLING IT, people need protection, but it doesn't come flying out of the walls. For that matter, undisturbed and painted over asbestos is okay - but it tends to age and disintegrate and cleaning up old asbestos sources in the wrong way can contaminate a whole building
