I have lost 2 sisters in the last 2 years to lung cancer, I also have lung problems as they did for a few years before their death. Makes you wonder.

Cancer is not contagious but many types are genetic. Discuss your concerns with your doctor. That is the only way you will get any good information.

Contagious Cancer is a common misconception. You cannot get cancer from someone else in such a form as like in a contagious disease. However, at least 94% of all cancers are genetic.

Sorry to hear about your sisters. No, cancer isn't contagious. Fewer than 10% of all cancers are genetic; lung cancer is no exception. Cancer Research UK says that If you have a first degree relative (parent, sibling) with lung cancer, your risk of lung cancer is doubled, but that it's is very hard to sort out the facts, because of the major role of smoking in lung cancer. Families of smokers will all be exposed to cigarette smoke and so have an increased risk of lung cancer whether they have inherited a faulty gene or not. After smoking, age is the greatest risk factor for lung cancer - three-quarters of lung cancer deaths occur in people over 65.
